Then the next day, I tried to book somewhere else as I thought it would be cheaper but again, everywhere was fully booked. This time I’m charged £160 for the night. I get to check in, as it was okay the night before I expected check in to go the same and let them know I couldn’t pay deposit as I didn’t have a card and they’d told me they didn’t take contactless the night previous. The man, with no manager badge on proceeded to tell me even though I’d been allowed to stay the night before and after they’d taken the money out he wasn’t going to allow me to stay in the hotel. Bearing in mind this is quite late at night, in Lincoln and I live in Bradford. There were no trains back. I managed to use someone’s card and transfer them the money over online banking luckily, however after being told the previous night deposit charge was £100, I was charged £30 so they have inconsistencies between staff. Got taken to the room which had NO main light source except a green bathroom light and a lamp situated in the complete opposite half of the room which couldn’t be moved as there were no plugs near the bed. I paid £206 and £160 for the same room and the difference in them is disgusting. The customer service was terrible.
